Here we have quite a rare beast. A 5" gauge GNR C1 Atlantic. Built we think to Henry Greenly's design, the model is slightly chunkily made and strongly built, but the machining work and finesse in the construction is to a nice standard. Although the backhead of the boiler is covered in a rather horrid layer of black paint, the boiler is copper, solidly made and as with the vast majority of our models, she will leave here with a fresh hydraulic test to twice working pressure rather than just 1 1/2 times, (because we are good like that), and a fresh annual steam test so you can be confident that she's ready to play. We might even strip off that paint and give it a nice smooth coat of high temperature satin black before it leaves as it's hurting our eyes!
Fitted with an injector, an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve as well as the hand pump in the tender. Lubrication is displacement and tucked away under the cab footplate, and it feeds through a sight feed on the footplate so you can see exactly how much oil is being used.
It's a good looking engine, and although a little plain here and there due to the Greenly ethos, we are expecting it to be a good reliable performer.
